The Old War Office Building in London was built at the end of the XIX century and from 1906 to 1964 it was used as the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense Great Britain.
The building has an unusual trapezoid shape. This project was developed in order to maximize the use of the space of the block allocated for construction. And the four towers that became symbols of the Ministry were built to hide the irregular shape of the building.
The building has seven floors, which house about 1,000 rooms connected by 4 kilometers of corridors. In the century before last, the construction cost the British treasury 1.2 million pounds. In 2013, the building was put up for sale as an apartment building. It is assumed that when all the apartments in the Old War Office Building are sold, the total cost of the building will exceed 100 million pounds.
The Old War Office Building attracts to the British capital not lovers of history or architecture, but fans of James Bond films. In the films "Octopussy", "A View to Murder" and "License to Kill", the building played the role of the headquarters of MI-6.
