Pilgrimage tour to Thessaly: traces of St. Nicholas the New
We invite you to a unique pilgrimage to Thessaly, where the place of the martyrdom of St. Nicholas the New, one of the most revered saints of Greece, is located. The tour will start with a morning ferry departure from Corfu to Igoumenitsa, after which we will go to the village of Vouneni, where, among the greenery and silence of the deciduous forest, there is the monastery of St. Nicholas. The journey will take about 3.5 hours, and on the way we will make rest stops.
Abbot Timofey will meet us at the monastery of St. Nicholas. This place preserves the holy relics of Nicholas the New, and it is here, in the grove, that miracles happen that make believers from all over the world come here. According to legend, a blood-like liquid is poured out of the trees in the grove, the chemical composition of which is identical to human blood, which is confirmed by laboratory studies. Believers collect this liquid, believing in its miraculous powers that can heal diseases, including skin cancers.
After visiting the monastery and worshipping the relics of St. Nicholas, we will go to the famous "bleeding" tree, from which red liquid is constantly released. With prayer and reverence, believers recruit it, hoping for the help of the saint in healing. If it is God's will, we will be able to witness this wonderful event.
At the end of the pilgrimage, we will have lunch in one of the nearby villages and return to Corfu. For those who want to spend more time in this holy place, we can offer a two—day excursion with an overnight stay in Kalabak and a visit to the Meteor Monasteries - one of the most majestic and historical places in Greece.
This pilgrimage tour is not only an opportunity to touch the spiritual heritage of Greece, but also a chance to experience a real miracle. We invite you to this extraordinary journey filled with faith and spiritual transformation.
