The El Born district in Barcelona has a second name – Ribera. El Born was once a place of residence for artisans, from whom the street names Sombrerers (hatters), Argenters (jewelers), Mirallers (mirror makers) remained. Later, artists settled here, and now the area has turned into a world of fashion and design.
There are numerous cocktail halls and bars, dance clubs and restaurants, boutiques of fashionable clothes and designer trinkets. There are also numerous historical and cultural attractions of the city: the masterpiece of Catalan Gothic, the church of Santa Maria del Maar, medieval palaces, on Carrer de Montcada Street there are museums and art galleries, including the Picasso Museum.
